How Does SMSC Work?

• Message Routing: The SMSC determines the recipient's location by consulting the Home Location Register (HLR) or the Visitor Location Register (VLR) to identify the serving MSC (Mobile Switching Center).

• Message Storage: If the recipient's device is unavailable or out of coverage, the SMSC temporarily stores the message until the device becomes reachable.

• Message Forwarding: Once the recipient's device is reachable, the SMSC forwards the message to the serving MSC, which delivers it to the intended recipient.

• Delivery Confirmation: Upon successful delivery, the SMSC sends a delivery report to the sender, providing confirmation that the message reached its destination.
